High Voltage (HV) Testing

 

High Voltage Testing of HV equipment inclusive of pad mount transformers, pole mount transformers, switchgears, HV cables & such, for the commercial & corporate sectors inclusive of manufacturing companies, schools & other institutions.

Tests include:

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems

1)  The Design, Procurement, Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Maintenance of a 100kW Solar PV Rooftop Mounted System at the Preysal CNG Service Station for National Energy Corporation of Trinidad & Tobago. The PV system is licensed by the Ministry of Public Utilities, certified by the GEI and approved by T&TEC.

The key elements of the design are:

  • 320 monocrystalline solar panels

  • aluminum racking system mounted at the required angle for our latitude

  • 512kW lithium-ion battery storage system

  • an elaborate grounding, earthing and lightning protection system

  • a fully computerized, control and monitoring system with remote capabilities, with standard automatic operation mode as well as a manual operation mode and equipped for manual bypass

  • a dedicated rooftop plumbing system for ease of maintenance

 

The loads are powered in order of priority from solar, lithium-ion storage and grid.


Electric Vehicle (EV) Level 3 Fast Charger – The project also included the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the country’s first 60kW, Level 3, EV 3-Gun, Fast Charging Station, fully powered from renewable energy. The charging ports available on the EV charger are:

 

  • DC 60kW CHAdeMo

  • DC 60kW CCS2

  • AC 43kW Type 2

 

2) Installation of Solar Photovoltaic Systems for Four (4) Sites in Trinidad and Tobago, under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) (PROJECT 00110728 /Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) Initiative) The sites are:​

  • Nature Seekers
    5kW PV system complete with 12 – 445W monocrystalline PV solar panels and 20 – 12V, Victron lead carbon batteries

  • Strong Ones Youth Club
    5kW PV system complete with 10 – 445W monocrystalline PV solar panels and 20 – 12V, Victron lead carbon batteries

  • Reptile Conservation Center of Trinidad & Tobago (RCCTT)
    5kW PV system complete with 12 – 445W monocrystalline PV solar panels and 12 – 12V, Victron lead carbon batteries​

  • ​CARINA
    ​3kW PV system complete with 3 – 445W monocrystalline PV solar panels and 8 – 12V, Victron lead carbon batteries

3) Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of projects under the Ministry of Public Utilities, Utilities Assistance Program (UAP):

  • 1.5kW stand-alone PV system

  • 5.0kW stand-alone PV system

4) Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of an 8kW, 115/230V stand-alone PV system for The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus.

 

5) Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of an 8kW, 115/230V stand-alone PV system at Las Lomas No. 1, Belec’s Workshop Training Facility.

 

6) Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of a 3kW, 115V stand-alone PV system for Trinidad and Tobago Power Ventures (TTPV).

 

7) LABIDCO: Solar LED Lights – Removal of existing Street Lights in Port compound and Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of twenty (20) LED solar powered lights on poles, complete with accompanying solar panels, battery packs, mechanical fasteners and electrical equipment and all other related work.

 

8) Arima Borough Corporation: Solar LED Lights – Supply and Installation, Testing and Commissioning of sixty-two (62) solar powered park floodlights (monocrystalline Solar LED Light, 40W, 4800LM) onto 4” fabricated galvanize poles at various recreational parks within the Borough of Arima.

9) YTEPP, Chaguanas: Solar LED Lights – Supply and Installation, Testing and Commissioning of eleven (11) solar powered floodlights (monocrystalline Solar LED Light, 40W, 4800LM) onto existing poles along walkway at Head Office.

Electrical HV Works

 

1. Trinidad & Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS)

  • Upgrade of transformer bank, which includes disconnection, removal and disposal of compromised transformer bank.

  • Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 3 new pole type transformers complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works.

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

  • Work executed over one weekend to minimize downtime in operations.
     

2. Rio Claro East Secondary School

  • Replacement of failed HV cable, complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works.

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

3. Naparima Girls High School – emergency works

  • Remedial works on existing installed pad mount transformer, installation of new HV cables and termination kits to replace failed HV cables

  • Upgrade of grounding system and upgrade of metering room

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

  • Work executed over one weekend to restore power to school

 

4. San Fernando West Secondary School – emergency works

  • Installation of new HV cables and termination kits to replace failed HV cable from T&TEC pole mounted HV metering unit to pad mount transformer, inclusive of approximately 400 ft. of trenching, installation of new ducts, sand, blocks and danger tape and reinstating all areas

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

  • Work executed over one weekend to restore power to school

 

5. St Augustine Secondary School – emergency works

  • Testing and troubleshooting of HV system (4 transformer kiosks, 4 switchgears and 7 cables) to identify and correct fault which caused T&TEC fuses to blow

  • Supply and replacement of faulty switchgear with new switchgear inclusive of busbars, lugs and switchgear gaskets, and installation of new termination kits, complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

6. Diego Martin North Secondary

  • Testing and troubleshooting of HV system to identify and correct fault which caused T&TEC fuses to blow

  • Supply and replacement of termination kits for cables in metering room, complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

 

7. North Eastern College - Replace transformers

  • Replacement of failed transformer bank, which included disconnection, removal and disposal of all 3 pole type transformers 

  • Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 3 new pole type transformers complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works.

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to restore power supply

  • Work executed over a 24-hour period.

 

8. Carapichaima West Secondary School – upgrade of power supply

  • Installation of a new 750kVA pad mount transformer complete with new HV cables, terminations and new main LV distribution panel, inclusive of new transformer plinth, chain link fencing and approximately 600 ft. of trenching, installation of new ducts, sand, blocks, danger tape and all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works.

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to connect the new power supply

9. WASA, Waste Water Treatment Plant Couva – upgrade of power supply

  • Installation of 3 (client supplied) pole mount transformers, new HV cables, termination kits and new main LV distribution panel complete with all associated electrical, civil and fabrication works

  • HV Testing, Commissioning, Coordination with T&TEC and GEI to connect the new power supply

 

10. National Quarries Company Limited

  • HV and LV Overhead Lines work associated with the replacement of two HV / LV poles.
